Braided or Knitted Fiberglass Wicking
Braided using a variety of the finest glass yarns available. Our Fiberglass wicks are used in everything from outdoor patio torches to designer oil lamps. Fiberglass being in-organic will out-last cotton based wicks. Fiberglass is also used for environmental sampling applications, passive lubrication of machine gears and fragrance dispersion units. Some designs of fiberglass work great with the new biofuels coming onto the market.

Item #4075, #4050, #4017 etc. can be cut to order. Minimum 1000 pieces. Cutter fees apply. Call 800-343-8114 ext 12 for a price quote. MonoKnittm is a process that gives a wick rigidity to stand on its own weight. Often used for patio torches without wick spurs fragrance dispersion units.
Series number "UBG-9" is an unbraided fiberglass wick. This wick measures a somewhat flat 1/8" plus/minus and consists of stranded fibers.
Series number "UBG-250" is an unbraided fiberglass wick. This wick measures a somewhat round 1/8" plus/minus and consists of stranded fibers.
Wick diameters are approximates. Some designs will "expand" slightly after coming off of the knitters or braiders used to make the wick. Fiberglass wicks being in-organic last longer than cotton, paper and wool wicks. Fiberglass wicks are made out of fiberglass yarns that are either braider or knitted.
The NUMBER ONE PROBLEM with those new to designing oil lamps is that they forget to take into consideration the ventilation of the fuel. The lamp lights up strong then fades out after about 30 seconds. The initial response is that they perceive the wick to be defective, which is NOT the case. You have created a vacuum in the fuel cylinder. The fuel container has to be vented.
We suggest that those new to working with fiberglass request a sample pack for sizing. Packs are pre-assembled sent via US Postal Service.
Spools are weighed and yield tested prior to shipment.
